John Taylor
I have created a large body of work as a portrait and figure photographer - with many actors and models as clients - and I have pursued a photographic essay of the American Southwest called "The Road Once Travelled," documenting the ghost towns and derelict places of the southern states. My earlier photographs are all in black and white. More recently, I have embraced colour and digital photography. Recent trips to New Orleans and Tuscany have added many interesting images to my portfolio.
I have a lengthy career in the visual arts. For eighteen years, I was a public art gallery Director (the Tom Thomson Memorial Gallery, the Art Gallery of Northumberland and the Art Gallery of the South Okanagan). Moving to Vancouver in the late 1980’s, I began a second career in film as an actor and as a Production Designer. I have had an abiding interest in photography for many years.
