Lesley Bohm
I try to capture special moments from nature in watercolours, working from sketches created on high mountain hikes and ski trips, kayak trips on coastal waters, and boat trips as far as Alaska.
I was born in Montreal and have an honours degree in botany from McGill University. I spent 12 years illustrating the University of British Columbia Botanical Garden quarterly, Davidsonia, until 1984. This experience allowed me to produce watercolour paintings of native and introduced plants in B.C., California, and Hawaii. At the same time, I painted landscapes while kayaking, backpacking, and hiking around BC. I have been an active member of the Alpine Club and the North Shore Hikers since 1986 and the Federation of Mountain Clubs since 1994. I spent 20 years campaigning for a park in the Endowment Lands and a year overseeing the construction of the Yew Lake wheelchair accessible trail for the Mountain Clubs. I have been a member of Artists in Our Midst for 15 years.
