Linda Red Hawk
I am devoted to a creative life, drawing inspiration from spiritual practices rooted in Hinduism, Native Spirituality, Buddhism, Christianity and Yoga. The images I create convey the respect I have for our emotional intelligence and our natural state of joy. I infuse my work with wonder, calm, surrender and play, all of which dances from the deepest part of me as I paint. I create my art with the intention to inspire, empower and delight my viewer. My commitment to social activism makes my artistic practice and the resulting images tools for proactive global peacemaking.
Born in Vancouver, BC, I moved to Calgary in 1981. I made my debut as a professional artist in 1991. I have been interviewed by various media on the subject of art. My work appears in national and international collections, including those at The Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Social Justice Department at the University of Regina.
