I enjoy hand building pots, burnishing them and sawdust firing with hot smoke. Burnished vessels have a very smooth surface and are lovely to handle. There is a deep quality to my black pots. I feel that, through the long process of its creation, every pot has its own story. Working on these pots makes me feel grounded, connected, and close to the earth.
I discovered clay in 1975 when I took classes under the instruction of Jerry McClain and Sam Kwan at the West Point Grey Community Centre. It was then I realized that clay was my medium, something I enjoyed touching and working with. Working with clay became my passion and a form of meditation. I also paint in watercolours.
