Tristan McElheron
I grew up in Montréal and spent my childhood and adolescence in an artistic milieu. My father and mother worked in graphic and clothes design, and two of my uncles are well-established Canadian painters.
I discovered the medium of plaster bandage while studying Studio Art at Concordia University and supporting myself by working as a waiter. My sculptures have been exhibited in the Silverstone Gallery and Galerie L’art Francais. In 2009, I exhibited at the Summer in the City show at the Leighdon Studio Gallery in Vancouver.
Returning to Vancouver in 1993, I began a career as a caterer, and later, as a recreation therapist with older adults. My sculptural work is influenced by Alexander Calder, Fernand Léger, René Magritte, and Don Martin of MAD Magazine.
