Seed + Sprouts Call for Artists

Celebrating Spring
Artists from Vancouver Point Grey*
April - May, 2016

Here in Vancouver, we've seen signs that spring is on its way for a while now: buds, snowdrops, crocuses and now daffodils. I also notice that I'm seeing neighbours out on the streets as we walk more and stop hiding ourselves under an umbrella (or bushel!). Children are outdoors more often; dog walkers are not as rushed. Spring Equinox is March 19 (9:30 am PDT) so by April, we'll be ready to put seeds outside for sprouting.

Art in this show will offer a variety of creative responses to the season of spring. You can take the theme literally or metaphorically. What's sprouting in your garden or your life?

Any 2-dimensional media is welcome: photographs, paintings, mixed-media. Small 3-D objects may be acceptable. Contact Mary to discuss.

Submission Deadline
Please send an email by Friday, March 18, with jpeg and size of your work – up to three pieces. Include a short bio and artist statement if you haven't shown here before. Depending on the number of submissions and the size of your work, each artist might have 1, 2 or 3 pieces in the show.

Drop off and Installation Date
Pick up the February-March work and install new work: Monday, March 28, 2016, 4:30-6:00pm.
If you can't come at that time, arrange to drop-off prior to this date.

Artist information
You are invited to bring either a 3”x5” label with the title, medium, size of your piece or an 8.5 x 11 sheet including the information about your piece plus your bio and artist statement to place near your work. Business cards and contact information are encouraged. Prices cannot be listed as this is a government office restricted to non-commercial activity.

*Artists must live within Vancouver Point Grey constituency. Beach to 16th Avenue; Arbutus to UBC.
Location: MLA David Eby's Community Office, 2909 West Broadway (at Bayswater)
