Karen Brumelle
ABOUT Karen
I search for the simplified heart of an image. I prefer strong compositions with patterns and contrasting colours. I work in acrylic, mixed media, paper collage and block printing. I am not trying for photographic realism, but rather a simplified vision. I want my work to bring joy to the viewer.
I studied at UC Berkeley with an MA in Art Education at UBC. I taught at Arts Umbrella at its inception and finally at Lord Byng Secondary School in the Byng Arts Program for 10 years. I took early retirement in 2004 to spend more time on my own work. I am a member of the Vancouver Art Guild which has an exhibit annually in November.
