ABOUT mike
I am a Vancouver based artist and musician specializing in figurative oil painting and multi-instrumental soundscapes.
Originally from Kamloops BC, I started painting in about 2000. My art has been exhibited throughout North America for the past 25 years with the most recent shows being in Antigua West Indies and Kimoto Gallery in Vancouver.
My work carries a surrealist visionary quality infused with musical undertones, in a mostly muted palette where loose realism slides into the abstract. The deep narratives blend old world themes and dreamlike landscapes.
I am currently writing music and creating art with “6 Minute Escape” for an upcoming modern day opera called “Lesedi.” Combining my visual style with music this piece tells a story of awakening into personal sovereignty.
