ABOUT scott
My approach to art is a two-fold vision. On the one hand I see visual problems that need to be solved in paint. Working with organic forms such as flowers which present complex shapes with subtleties of light and shadow that need to be translated into my language of line, shape, form and colour. I love to play with the negative image and incorporate simplified graphic shapes to compliment a more detailed focal point. The second half of the vision is simply fun! I enjoy interpreting everyday life, and ordinary objects in a different and humorous light. I prefer to work in a series if possible as it forces me to exhaustively explore an idea which often will take me in unexpected directions. I work mainly in acrylics using a more direct, thicker application of paint over predominantly red toned grounds.
