ABOUT seiji
Born and raised in Japan, I am a self-taught furniture designer and sculptor based in British Columbia. My work blends functionality, art, and architecture, grounded in sustainability, minimalism, and the quiet spirit of Zen. I create original, built-to-order pieces that have found homes around the world, including in Ireland, New York, London, and Singapore.
Diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, I learned to understand the world through form, texture, and movement rather than words. This way of seeing continues to shape my creative process. Children draw freely, without logic or boundaries—my work is a continuation of that imagination. I refine each piece until only the essential, most expressive form remains.
I work exclusively with sustainable wood, often incorporating Yakisugi, an ancient Japanese charring technique that reveals the material’s inner beauty. Through In Element Designs, I hope to bring harmony, intention, and quiet beauty into the spaces people call home.
